FireChan 0.1.0

FireChan, the 4-chan image trawler FireFox plugin.

FireChan LogoFireChan is a Mozilla FireFox plugin designed to trawl the 4-chan image boards and save the images to your hard drive. Currently, this is a PC only plugin as the images will be saved in the C:/Images/ folder. Future updates will allow you to select the save directory prior to trawling.

How to use:

  • Download the FireChan 0.1.0 Plugin (if it won’t install, Right Click->Save Link As and then drag the file onto FireFox)
  • Once the plugin is installed and FireFox is restarted, right-click on any of the toolbars at the top of the browser and select Customise.
  • In the Customise Toolbar dialog box, you will find an icon for FireChan; simply drag this onto any of your toolbars to begin using.
  • Clicking on the FireChan button will load the trawler page - you can load as many pages as you want.
  • Select the board you wish to trawl, and click the Search button.
  • Go make some tea whilst your images download.

Don’t worry if a few of the text boxes look like Martian text, it is there for the more advanced use to change should they wish.

Please note that this does increase the load on the 4-chan servers and I would ask that you only perform these trawls no more than once per day at non-peak times. Leech, but leech responsibly.

Todo:

  • Hide XPath boxes
  • Add “select save directory” option.

If you download the plugin, please comment and let me know what you think, any ideas to improve you may have or to generally flame me for making such a thing.
